About Lucero

I enjoy helping students who are struggling academically in any way I can. I am good at helping someone understand the material in a way that they will actually benefit from. This is coming from someone who they themself struggled a lot with understanding school work in the traditional sense and had to find other ways to comprehend what was being taught.

I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with an emphasis on Child and Family Therapy, as well as a minor in Foreign Language: Spanish, and a minor in Graphic Design. I currently work for a non-profit that works with providing supports to individuals with mental disabilities and mental health needs. I have had experience teaching Spanish before and it is my native language. I am also helping with English language arts, some basic science, and math as well. I have also worked as a Teachers Aid in the psychology department of my university, helping to teach the psychology 101 lectures.

I have worked as a tutor before, once as a private tutor for a family who wanted me to help their little daughter develop her Spanish skills, and once as a tutor working for the pre-college programs at the University of Maryland: College Park. I think what I enjoyed the most from both these jobs was the satisfaction of knowing I was helping someone improve in something they already knew, or helping them understand something new. Seeing a student have that "ah-ha" moment is very rewarding.
