I do a few introductory lessons to determine each student's starting proficiency level in spelling, grammar, and reading comprehension at their grade level to determine areas of strengths and areas with room for improvement. I ask the student some questions about their interests in order to streamline future lessons to something that will hold their interest, such as dinosaurs, pets, fairy tales, drawing, cooking, working with children, outdoor activities, entrepreneurship, etc.
