About Erin
I absolutely love working with children. I have been teaching 2nd grade for nine years now and can't see myself doing anything else. I have tutored 2nd grade students, 3rd grade students and taught 4th and 5th grade summer school. I am knowledgable in elementary curriculum across grade levels with an expertise in 2nd grade. I have a masters in Literacy Education which is my passion.
I enjoy waking up every day and knowing that I am influencing the lives of so many children. Not only am I a teacher, but I have to be a role model, a shoulder to cry on, I have to be passionate and creative. I love the moments when a child who didn't think they could learn something new or read a challenging word say to me "I did it!"

About the lesson

When I meet your child I will get to know their interests and strengths. What are they passionate about, what motivates them to work hard and what are some of their struggles. I will then start with the Words Their Way reading assessment to gauge what reading level your child falls under. This assessment will help me find activities and reading passages that are alligned with your child needs. I would also do a pre assessment for math if your child struggles in math as well. It would be best to meet weekly typically one hour each session. I will make sure to create engaging and rigrous lessons that allign with State Standards.
