About Kristin

My passion is helping students write college acceptance essays that stand out! I have a MA in Philosophy with an emphasis in ethics and ancient philosophy. I have experience teaching english composition as well as logic, introduction to philosophy, and ethics at the university level. For many years my family and friends have been coming to me for help with writing essays of all kinds. Let me help you create clear, concise essays that show off your knowledge and creativity.

I love the entire process of writing, from first ideas to final draft. I really enjoy working with people and helping their own writing process improve. So many of my clients know what they want to say, but they struggle with the actual writing and organizing of their thoughts. My best days are when I can help an individual organize their ideas and produce a finished paper that is well-written, well-crafted, and grammatically correct.

I started as a teaching assistant in college. I loved working with the students and faculty. I have always loved teaching and tutoring. Some of my favorite students have been my three children who are now grown.

I have a Masters Degree in Philosophy from the University of Utah. My emphasis is ethics and ancient philosophy. I have taught logic, introduction to philosophy and ethics at the university level. I have taught composition and writing and have helped many family members and friends with writing essays, personal statements, and college application essays.

I actively listen to the specific needs of the student. Together we will make a game plan for how best to proceed. I read and evaluate past work and then discuss future assignments and what skills are needed moving ahead. During the writing process I take a lot of time revising and editing to make sure the final product is perfect.

My typtical student is high school aged or younger. But I also have tutored adults who are going back to school to finish degrees.

I would advise a student to look for a teacher with ability, affability, and availability. Of these three, the most important may be the teacher's affability, in other words, her good nature and friendliness. You want a teacher to be easy to talk to and approach with questions.

My daughter recenly graduated from college with a Masters Degree in English. Because of the Corona Virus pandemic, she did not get a graduation ceremony from the university. Instead, I ordered a cap and gown, wrote a commencement address, printed out a diploma, and we held her graduation ceremony in our home.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should be able to discuss their strengths as well as their weaknesses. Students should recognize their organizational and time management skills as well specific writing, reading comprehention, or grammar needs. A good teacher will help a student use current skills to improve in areas of difficulty.
