About Tamara
Hey everyone, my name is Tamara! I am currently a sophomore in college, working on my Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. I have never formally tutored before, and the only times that I have came about when someone would ask for my help and that’s when I discovered I have a slight knack for it! I am very passionate about helping people and the subject where I feel I am most able to fulfill this passion of mine is with English and Writing. Some qualifications:
- Earned A+ grades on many papers that I have written in any subject from high school to undergraduate
- Nearly perfect exam score for Georgia Milestones English Exam (11th grade)
- Placed in high percentile for the ACT writing assessment
I would like to consider myself to be a funny person would a good work ethic. I want the environment to still be enjoyable for the student while still managing to help them understand the material. I love when students finally begin to grasp the concepts that I help breakdown for them in a way that they understand.
I am not a teacher, nor do I have much experience with tutoring. However, I do love to write and to help people understand topics that I feel I am knowledgable in. I believe tutoring is special because in working one on one with students, it allows me to conform to their style of learning.
I am currently a college sophomore studying for my Bachelor's in Exercise Science. I love to write and consider these to be some of my qualifications:
- I landed in the 90th percentile on my ACT writing score
- I received a nearly perfect score for my writing on the Georgia Milestones English exam
- Throughout all of my time high school and my early college career, I have gotten A+ grades on many papers and assignments that I’ve written for English and several other courses
I know that when it comes to writing, it can be hard to figure out where to start or what to write about; however, I figured out a way to break everything down—helping to make the process smooth and steady.

I am a newbie to formal tutoring, but I have worked with students who have directly asked me for assistance. Any time that I have ever worked with someone, I make sure that they understand the material by making the best attempt to conform to their learning style. I want the best outcome for anyone that I am servicing and I always aim to uphold that philosophy in every job that I do!
I have worked with some students that have difficulty in figuring where to begin in their writing endeavors. They might have been given instruction to write on a topic that they love, a prompt with questions or even a topic of research.
The advice that I would give a student looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise is to not solely judge a profile based on their lack of certifications. Look at the qualifiers and complete profile to get a good feel for how that person takes their work.
The most recent event that I am fond of in my tutoring assistance with a student is when I helped a family member of mine to write a paper on her love for dance. She is a bright college freshman who is not too big on writing.
My family member had a required paper to write for her claim that dance is a sport in her dance theory class and was not sure where to begin. She and I did a thorough sit down of the things she needed to analyze before she began to write the paper. After doing so, she was easily able to follow my system and write a great paper.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The kinds of questions that students should think about before directly looking for assistance are:
- What kind of students have you worked with before?
- Is it easy to contact you?
- What is your response time?
- Are certain materials required to help me understand certain things?
- How long do lessons range?

Because I am new to this kind of environment in a formal sense, I do not have a standard pricing system for my lessons, though I am looking to develop one in the future!
