About Julia

Hi! I remember times during my own school days that I struggled to understand, was shy about asking a question, and really needed help. That's why I love to teach and tutor and have a passion to see that my students understand and can learn any new skills their assignments require. I have taught special education, at various grade levels, for a total of six years. My certifications are: 4th - 8th English and Reading (ELAR), ESL, and All-Level Special Education. I also am a mom of seven who are now grown; all of our kiddos completed school and have had some college, with one becoming an engineer, one an M.D. (E.R.), one a corporate wellness coach, and the list goes on...

I recall the many times our kids needed encouragement and help with their studies. You are not alone! We all need a bit of extra help sometimes with different learning tasks that are a challenge. I specialize in all things English and writing and I love assisting students and they: tackle hard grammar and vocabulary questions, generate writing ideas, work up a rough draft, organize text, revamp word choice and sen-tence structure, edit and correct any errors, and brainstorm a great conclusion... I'm excited to meet you, determine if I'm a good fit for your needs, and help you "nail" problem areas. It is my joy to do so, and also see you truly grow in your academic courage and belief in yourself...you got this!

PS- while raising seven children, living an hour away from college, with my husband on disability and money very tight, I completed my coursework and graduated "Cum Laude" from Texas A & M-Commerce University. I went on a few years later to earn a Master's degree in Education while working full time and continuing to be a mom, this time to a crew of teenagers! My family has been a huge support; I couldn't have gotten through all the rough patches without their patience, understanding, and ongoing "chore-duty." (Bless them, Lord..) Now I want to make a difference, one-on-one, in the learning of students just like you or your child, when needing the support of a caring, hard-working tutor.
