About Melanie
I'm a recent Berkeley grad and incoming law student at UC Hastings in San Francisco. Having majored in political science and minored in history, I'm no stranger to reading and writing.
I didn't use outside help when drafting my college application essays or my personal statement and "why x school" essays when I was applying to law school. Looking back, I wish that I had another set of more objective eyes who could do more than just proofread, but actually help me develop a strong narrative throughout the process.
I've worked through the writing process with friends informally since I was in high school. Come college, I was everyone's go-to girl to look over drafts of research papers, personal writing projects, and grad/law school applications. I look forward to helping other students through the process!

At Berkeley, I've taken courses in political science, history, gender and women's studies, anthropology, classics, and comparative literature. I've written enough papers to have gotten the writing process down to a science.
As far as translating this experience to your needs, I've been exactly where you are. I wrote dozens of essays for college applications and scholarships. When applying to law school this cycle, I had to draft a strong personal statement and many school-specific essays.

Details
First Essay Coaching Meeting - $30 (1 hour)
We can select a topic and talk through how you might best approach the prompt.
Follow up Meetings - $25/hour
We'll go over the progress of your draft and bounce ideas to polish it up. I'll try to keep my feedback as clear, helpful, and descriptive as possible. We'll cover the basics - grammar and spelling - but the main focus of these sessions is to establish a strong voice that will help to set you apart from other applicants.
In between meetings, I'll be available by email or text for quick questions.
