About Zev

I have a wide breadth of knowledge and experience that allows me to develop creative strategies to support and inspire my students. My attitude is always supportive, and I am able to set high expectations for my students and empower them to rise to the occasion!

I enjoy seeing the sense of triumph and pride in my students when they achieve something that seemed out of reach. I love watching them begin to believe in themselves!

I got started teaching the summer before high school working at an arts and crafts summer camp. Subsequently, I tutored other students in math during high school, and I also began teaching music lessons (saxophone and flute). I fell in love with teaching because it allows me to support others in becoming the best version of themselves. I could not have gotten where I am today without my incredible teachers, and I use them as role models!

My first step is always to get to know the student by asking questions and observing how they learn. I want to know their strengths and areas for growth as well as points of confidence versus insecurity. Once I better understand the individual student, I can personalize my approach to best support their learning. 



I have worked with a wide variety of students. I have worked with students of various ages, amounts of knowledge, levels of experience, etc. I have worked with students considered 'neurotypical' as well as those considered 'neurodivergent' (learning differences, on the Autism spectrum). I think the key is to treat each and every student as an individual and cater my approach to their strengths and needs. 



It's all about the relationship! Each student is unique, as is each teacher. The best thing to do is to try things out and trust your gut. The best fit will be the one that makes you the most excited to learn!



A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about times when they felt most supported and excited to learn. They should think about what it was about those situations that worked well for them, and then try and communicate that to their teachers.
