About Jaime

I have over ten years teaching experience in ELA and Social Studies.

I worked as the Head of the English Department at Fusion Academy, where I helped my students learn to develop their writing skills, hone their analytical and critical thinking skills, and begin to appreciate the essay-writing process.

Although reading and writing can be difficult, they are equally rewarding, which I have learned throughout my own academic career. I graduated with distinction from California State University at Northridge with a M.A. in history where I won many awards such as Best Graduate Paper. Also, I have a B.A. in history from the University of California at Irvine where I graduated cum laude.

I enjoy students seeing the finished product and to feel the satisfaction of producing something they can be proud of.

I specialize in writing support and story/reading analysis. Whether students are looking for fine tuning or in-depth scaffolding, I have the skills and expertise to help them develop the ability to independently produce strong, well-polished work.

I savor the mental gymnasitcs of the writing process. From the introduction to the conclusion, the writing journey is full of seemingly impossible obstacles that I enjoy guiding students up and over. I hope to share my enthusiasm and passion for teaching with students.

I have always loved learning, so after moving to Korea to teach English I quickly discovered that I enjoy teaching as well.

I have a Bachelor's and Master's in History, which were centered on strong reading and writing skills. I have won awards such as Best Graduate paper. I have over 10 years of teaching experience, as well as experience as Head of the English Department. I have over five years experience teaching one-to-one, individualized instruction.

About the lesson

Read a short story, answer comprehension questions, write a short essay response so that I can evaluate their reading, writing, procoessing, and abstract reasoning levels.

To get to know what the studenk likes to develop trust and comfort and best serve their specific learning modality.

I have worked with a wide variety of students. I have worked with all ages and grades, from kindergartners to seniors. Predominantly, I have taught high school students.

Find a teacher that makes you feel safe to make mistakes and not know the right answer. Make sure the teacher has your best interests in mind and is commited to not only your academic growth but your emotional and social growth.

Find a teacher you feel like you can become comfotable with over time.

Communicate, be honest with yourself and the teacher about what you need.

I once helped a student create a project on Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. Recently, this student contacted me to tell me that he had been assigned a project on the same subject. He thanked me for getting him prepared for college, and we both had a good chuckle.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Come up with a list of strengths and weaknesses and determine what you need to work on so that you can help the teacher understand what you want to improve upon. This self-awareness will help you determine short and long term goals that you and the teacher can work toward.

75$ for 50 minutes of one-to-one instruction/support.

If it is paper/essay support, I require the writing at least 12 hours prior to a lesson in order to thoroughly read through, add notes, comments, and suggestions.
