About Makayla

The best tutors will meet your student's needs and exceed regular standards. I work hard to come up with good learning goals based on a growth mindset that help students to succeed.

I love when I get to see those light bulb moments with a student that shows they have a better understanding of what they are learning.

I did an internship in high school at an elementary school to earn my micro-credential and fell in love with teaching.

I have a micro-credential in STEM Teaching, I am a senior at Grand Canyon University studying Elementary Education, I have completed and passed my NES Teacher Certification Exams, and I have over 200 hours of work done at local elementary schools.

About the lesson

First I look at previous school work, give a basic oral and written practice test to see where the student is at, and from there I will look at where the student needs to be. I will create a learning guide to help the student achieve their learning goals.

I have worked with ELL, SpED, General Ed, Middle, and High school students in California and Arizona.

Find a teacher that will meet you where you are academically, and take you above and beyond your goals for growth.

A recent event I am fond of was from this past school year in my practicum hours, I was able to help devise a learning plan for an ELL student. By the end of the school year, the student was no longer two years below grade level, they were able to read and process information at grade level.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are some tangible goals? How can I stay focused with a tutor? What kind of tutor do I need? Do I need help in more than one area?
