About Meghan

I have been an elementary school teacher for 14 years (1st-4th grade). Before becoming a teacher I was an instructional assistant working in mild to moderate special education classrooms. I am fluent in American Sign Language and I am a certified Teacher of the Deaf and hard of hearing. I have tutored elementary, middle school and high school students (general education and special education).

I have also worked with students who do not have verbal language and have worked with them on picking up American Sign Language.

Currently I am a full time teacher, I am looking for positions that would happen in the afternoon after school hours.

I love modifying assignments and lessons to figure out how each child learns best. I would be more than happy to interview and come for a meet and greet before starting to tutor. Lessons will be fun, hands on and accommodated to meet your child's needs.

My career started in Los Angeles. My passion has always been working with children and even as a young pre-teen myself I started babysitting.

Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies

Arizona Teaching credential (DHH)

Fluent in ASL

Training in IEP writing

Training in several different behavior management strategies

Google Classroom, SeeSaw, RAZ Kids, XTra math, etc.

About the lesson

First and foremost is building rapport with the student. I will provide a brief survey of their likes and how they like to learn best. We will start with fun get to know eachother activities before moving into pre assessments in order to get a baseline.

A recent event that occurred In my classroom was I had all parents submit a video of themselves wishing their child good luck on the AZMerit tests. The students reactions were pure joy and excitement. I love family involvement and ensuring parents are involved in their child's progress.
