About Wesley

My favorite part about tutoring are the moments that a student understands a concept in a new way or gains a deeper appreciation for a particular subject. Overall, I simply enjoy helping others learn and hope I can help them enjoy doing so in the process.

I started informally tutoring classmates when I was in high school and there realized that I love working alongside others as they seek to learn and grow.

I have a B.S. in Finance from the Univesity of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and I'm currently pursuing graduate studies at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In my most recent professional role, I helped to teach new hires through a combination of hands-on and classroom style trainings. Additionally, I assisted in improving the materials used to prepare new hires to excel on the job.

About the lesson

I begin with an intial assessment to get an understanding of each student's starting point as well as his/her particular goals. From there, I'll use that information to create a customized plan that targets the desired areas of improvement. Along the way, I'll regularly check in with students to see how they're feeling about their progress and make any adjustments to better accomodate each students' specific situation.

Recently, I have worked with college students seeking to improve their academic writing, prospective graduate students looking to enhance their admissions essays, young professionals working on strengthening their resumes, as well as others from different backgrounds who are looking to generally improve their reading and writing.
