About Cat
Hello! My name is Cat, a freelance tutor specializing in English and also Spanish language writing, literature, and speaking. Additionally, I am able to assist with World and European History if needed (I have passion for those subjects!)
Currently, I am on a very flexible schedule as I am in between jobs. On a full-time basis, I am a PR, Communications, and Marketing specialist.
I graduated from Cal State Long Beach in 2016 with a bachelor's from the journalism school and held positions with four different publications. As a result, I have a lot of strengths with teaching English (Literature and writing) including grammar and proper AP Style usage.
Additionally, I am fluent in Spanish as I live under a dual-language household and took five years of Spanish to increase my proficiency with proper grammar, conjugations, and reading.
See above for my previous teaching experience. However, this is my first time freelance tutoring. As a result, I would prefer to hold preliminary phone calls and a "trial" tutoring session to see if I am able to assist the student and parent!
I hold a bachelor's degree in Journalism (specializing in public relations and marketing) from Cal State Long Beach. Additionally, I have experience being in a teaching setting - I taught a mini-course in event marketing at the University of California, Irvine in Summer 2017 for girls ages 8-18 years old.

Since I am new to tutoring, I would like to have preliminary phone calls with the parents to see what their child's needs and goals are and for what subject. I can discuss my strategy with them for meeting those goals. Afterwards, we can set up the first tutoring session as a "trial run" to see if I am able to provide the student with what they need. If the session goes well, we can discuss the next few sessions.
Ages 8-18 years old.
Please give the teacher your goals for the class and communicate your troubles. Communication is the key to learning further!
