When assisting a student with their writing, I believe the best approach to be one that is subtle. The student has to have a certain amount of necessary space to learn how to properly express their ideas, arguments and thoughts through their writing. All the while having someone there to guide them in the right direction when it comes to the structuring and testing of their work. Writing can be very fun if taught in the way of free expression, instead of rigid assessment. By teaching a student to express themselves through their writing, while maintaining a formal and academic structuring, they will gain a competitive advantage within all fields of study.
