About Alana

Writing doesn't have to be a source of stress. Let me help you discover your talent for expressing yourself through the written word!

I have over 20 years of experience working with students. I love connecting to learners as a learner myself and supporting others on their road to success.

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature, teaching certificates in English Language Arts and Reading and Social Studies, and have edited multiple published works, including three novels. I have also published articles for zoos and conservation organizations. I will begin law school in the fall of 2021 and concentrate on Environmental and Natural Resource Law.

My first job was as a Hebrew teaching assistant at the age of 14. It was there that I discovered my love for teaching.

In addition to being a certified teacher, I have also worked as a private tutor for over a decade. In that time, I have honed my ability to cater to individual student needs.

Let's get to know one another and discuss your goals for tutoring. You tell me how you learn best and I will create a curriculum suited specifically for your needs. If you aren't sure how you learn best, we will figure it out together!

I have worked with elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as college and graduate students. I have also taught adult education classes.

Finding the right match is more important than anything when looking for a good tutor. Student and tutor should feel comfortable with one another before the student can expect to become comfortable with the material.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should recognize their strengths and feel confident to express those to their teachers, even when asking for help. Every single person has strengths and good teachers know how to nurture those in their students so that they can be successful in and out of the classroom.
