About Jeanne

Your ideas are incredible. You just need to find the best way to write them down. I can help with that.

While earning multiple degrees from the University of Washington, I trained in a number of different methods and modes of writing. My specialties are creative non-fiction and the 5-paragraph essay, but my published works also include poetry, scientific study, academic essay, marketing campaigns, legal policy, philanthropic letters of appeal, and even virtual reality game story.

Whatever the project or need, I'm confident we can find a way to meet the moment - to make the grade and acquire life-long skills on the way.

Writing can be incredibly powerful, but many of us feel disconnected from that power, unable to get our thoughts and feelings to fit inside words and writing structures the way we want them. We expect that writing, like conversation, should just come naturally to us over time, and when it doesn't, we think perhaps we just don't have the talent. Any successful athlete, musician, professional, or parent will tell you, it takes time, practice, and a commitment to learn from failure in order to achieve. Writing is no different. It is a skill, a collection of conventions, a series of choices we all have the power to make. As a tutor, I have the awesome responsibility and joy of helping others connect to this power and use it to find their own success.

About the lesson

Everyone is unique, with different goals, expectations, styles, and needs. We start by assessing where we are and where we want to go (and whether I'm the best guide to get us there). Then we can make a plan for our number/length of sessions and how we want to maximize our time together.
