About Connor
When most people think about English, they remember being scolded in elementary school about verb tenses and preposition placement. While I believe grammar is an essential part of English, my goal as a tutor is to create an encouraging environment in which students are empowered to experiment with language as they refine their writing—not an environment in which they're afraid to express themselves for fear of reproach.
My experience with peer-to-peer tutoring at Grand Valley State University's writing center taught me how to engage with students and identify different areas in their writing on which to focus within 30-minute consultations. Moreover, I learned various techniques for refining written composition while pursuing and ultimately earning my bachelor's degree in writing.
