About Melanie
I am a Secondary English teacher with lots of experience in technical writing, creative writing and freelance journalism. I have experience teaching all grade levels, K through 12 and post-secondary. I focus on understanding the student so I can help him or her achieve the most success based on his or her unique skill set.
If I can help a student improve his or her academic performance, I am pleased...but bringing a student to love, or at least appreciate, the beauty of the written word is my ultimate goal! I enjoy working with students of all ages and backgrounds.
I have a BA in English from Old Dominion University, an MBA from Mary Baldwin University, and my teaching certification in Secondary English (Virginia).
I have about 20 years of writing experience, both in the military and as a civilian. I have been in classrooms from pre-school to 12th grade as a Substitute Teacher. I have experience tutoring school age children in English and Writing, as well as experience with college age students in English.

Details
I ask $25 an hour for tutoring assiciated with essay writing or literature, at the secondary and post-secondary levels.
For all other students, I ask $20 an hour.
