About Miranda
Hello! My name is Miranda and welcome to Miranda "Writes". I am currently a general psychology instructor at a local college and have previously received my M.S. in forensic psychology (hence the pun in my business name). I also have my B.A. in psychology and intend to receive a Ph.D. in clinical psychology in the upcoming years. My overall goals is to receive tenure to continue teaching in courses related to psychology.
While receiving my M.S., I began being a course assistant in the beginning of 2020. This sparked an excitement for teaching student's, or just overall helping students to overcome their educational struggles. I've held zoom meetings to tutor on weekly assignments, responded by emailto assist on questions or essays, and more! Prior to this, while receiving my Bachelor's, I had always helped people write papers, resumes, cover letters, you name it!
This all led me to my currrent status as a general psychology instructor. I am a professor at a college in Texas for PSY 2301. I am teaching lessons related to "What is Psychology?", perception, human emotions, psychology and the law, and more! In addition, I have great expertise in APA formatting and writing research papers.
If you would like peace of mind and just general knowledge about what I'm doing, my research interests, and future upcoming plans, I will attach my linkedin profile below! In addition, I have writing samples in my images to show my level of writing. :)

I particularly enjoy making the student's interested in the topic. If it's something that they enjoy, they'll be more likely to succeed and continue succeeding without the assistance of a tutor. My main goal is to get student's comfortable enough to become independent from me. THIS is when I know the work I am doing is successful and I enjoy every part of it.
Once I began as a course assistant, I discovered that I have a love for teaching, however as an assistant I am limited! I have always loved helping friends in my undergraduate studies, but being an assistant further propelled me to get immersed in the whole world of teaching.
I have a B.A. in psychology, and a M.S. in forensic psychology.
I was a course assistant for about a year and I am currently working as a general psychology instructor for normative college and dual credit students.

Initially, I like to create a good student/teacher relationship where there is trust and understanding between the two fo us. I like to see not only the course work they will be working on (for a general understanding) but also what they'd like to get out of tutoring. For example: a general understanding, great expertise, etc.. Once this is understood, I'll also like to see what the student does already know about the topic in order to cater their tutoring experience to fill in any gaps or misunderstandings. Then we can continue the tutoring session by getting deeper into the course content.
I have mostly worked with undergraduate college students, but have also worked with 10th grade high school students.
Be sure that you are hiring a teacher in psychology who has a passion for the field. You can hire somebody who has all the knowledge, but if they don't enjoy what they do, they won't enjoy teaching you and this can severely impact the knowledge you retain.

I really enjoyed that Miranda was patient and took her time explaining things to me. If I didn’t understand a concept, she was more than willing to backtrack to help me out.
