About Dara

I have been a homeschool mom for many years and I have a passion to be a life long learner and role model to others. I love to watch people grow, expand and achieve their goals. I feel blessed to be involved in their journey and appreciate unlimited learning styles and individuality. My motto: Be Yourself there is no one like you, everyone else is taken!

I started at home with my children.

I homeschooled my son and daughter for more than 5 years. I continue to home school my son during this pandemic. I have a B.A. in Communications from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. I have taken teaching courses at Eastern Florida State College. I enrolled my son at Lab School through Eastern Florida and learned "Conscious Discipline" and "Loving Guidance" techniques and tools. I just finished a course of study in Medical Assisting at Keiser University and graudated with a 4.0 GPA. I am also trained and have worked as a CNA and need to teach from home at this time. I am looking forward to making a difference in peoples lives.

About the lesson

Get to know them, ask questions about their interests and request that they interview. I want to find out what they are hoping for, dreaming about and their desire to reach their goals.

Mostly young children, ages 9 to 16.

Get to know them first before deciding to hire them and go slow, making sure there is a clear understanding of expectations and flexibility built into the lesson plans.

My son had to write a paper on genocide in his World History online. We watched the movie Hotel Rwanda on Prime Video and we both learned a lot. He was able to finish his paper with flair and got an excellent response from his teacher.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Never get too personal. Dealing with people on the internet is not always a safe bet. Do not ever give away identifying factors about you and your personal life. This is a business and you need to protect yourself from those who would take advantage. You could create an imaginary persona and maybe even a fake identity, name. Never give away information like your address, or social security number or anything like that. Children under 18 should let their parents take care of business for them.
