About Roel

Roel is a professional guitar and bass musician based in Boston, MA. While Roel devoted his youth to exploring rock- and blues-adjacent genres, he is currently expanding his horizons by studying jazz performance and composition at the world-renowned Berklee College of Music. Roel lives to be an educator -- his life goal is to become a university-level music instructor -- and he has amassed over 1500 hours of teaching experience. From students taking their first steps into reading and playing music, to advanced students seeking to take their technique and compositional skills to the next level, Roel has helped dozens of students achieve their goals. Roel deeply understands the joys and frustrations that come with learning new techniques, and he strives to be both empathetic and progress-oriented.

My dream is to help others translate their thoughts and emotions into music. In this course, we will not only grow as performers but also as creators. We all start somewhere, and I welcome students of all skill levels -- from beginners learning their first notes on guitars to seasoned performers looking to expand their repertoire. I will be your ally and guide as you work towards your unique goals.

Through years of teaching I have developed a flexible curriculum. Each week I will devise clear and specific homework that challenge you and push you to your limits without overwhelming you. If you're looking to improve your playing while exploring your creative side, we will make a great team. I look forward to meeting you!
