About Roy

My teaching approach:

I consider every student as a unique individual with their own goals, desires and capabilities. Then I design a lesson plan to enable the student to enjoyably progress toward their particular program. I always consider how I would like to have lessons presented to me if I were the one who was receiving them and trying to achieve my own ambitions. By doing this, I can keep a good perspective on how to precisely tailor a lesson to accommodate the unique direction of each students instruction.

My influences are:

A very diverse array of many outstanding artists: Jimi Hendrix to Chet Atkins Eric Clapton to Esteban Johnny Winter to Jeff Beck BB King, Duane Allman, Tommy James & the Shondells, Eddie Van Halen, CCR (John Fogerty), Freddie King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmy Page, Johnny Smith, Roy Buchannan and so many more...

My guitar lessons take place in:

The teacher's studio

Guitar Techniques:

Guidance In Equipment Selection, Recording and Production, Song Writing, Scales and Exercises, Music Theory, Reading Music, Jamming Skills, Improvisation, Performance, Vocal Accompaniment, Slide Guitar, Fingerstyle, Open tuning, Rhythm guitar, Lead guitar

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

You First Lesson is FREE... I offer this because I believe that this 'First Encounter' is a key opportunity to collaboratively assess your current aptitude, musical history, goals and desires. I also believe that it is essential for you to know that you can be at ease and comfortable in your learning environment. Feel free to bring any music, books or questions with you.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

We will review your previous lesson material and work on any troubled area as well as answer any questions that you may have. Then we will look at new material. Of course, we will always work toward achieving your goals and desires. The experience of Playing and Learnig Guitar, quintessentially, should be enjoyable...

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

One who 'Desires' to learn... It is the desire to learn that creates motivation and accelerates the learning process. Ideally, if possible, a top guitar student, motivated by desire, will be able to devote some time per week to practice what they are learning.
