My first step in starting to work with you is to understand the goals you have for our work together. From there we can develop a collaborative plan for success.
I have worked with high school and undergraduate students.
Look for a teacher that has specified content knowledge. A lot of people think they can teach history because they have briefly read about it. However, they don't understand the complexities of the discipline or how to actively engage with the material.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Ask potential teachers if they are confident they can help you with your specific subject/project. Ask them how they think they would do that.
