About Caelum

I've been tutoring children for 5 years in several different subjects. I began as a music mentor for young string instrument players throughout high school. Now, when my college is in person, that is, I am an academic mentor for elementary students through the Simmons University Community Engagement Office in a program called America Learns.

I love working with kids in particular. Some day, I want to be a school librarian and help kids learn to read. I am highly motivated to succeed and that extends to my students: I want them to succeed as well.

I have a high school diploma and I am working toward my B.S. in Computer Science and Music History. I am a double major with a 3.9 cumulative GPA, and I'm in a combined B.S./M.S. program at Simmons University. I will be getting my M.S. in Library and Information Science after I finish my bachelor's degree.

I like to get to know a student. A quick chat about what they like to do for fun helps us both warm up to each other. Then, I like to ask what they think they need help with, because they know better than anyone what they struggle to do. Then, I like to make a plan for the rest of the session. We can make a plan for how to tackle an assignment they are struggling with, or we can talk about how to take notes more effictiently. Anything that is helpful for them. From there, I can make plans for future sessions.
