About Alison

I was an engineering major but decided to take an intro-to- education class for fun and changed my major to math education.

I am a junior at Northern Arizona University studying Secondary Education - Math and minoring in Chem. I have taken many 'teaching science and math' classes and many high level math proof classes. The teaching classes have given me time observing/teaching in local middle and high school.

First seeing what the student thinks about what the question is asking and how they would approach the problem. Then I would have a better understanding of how to explain why we would use different steps to solve the question.

In high school I would tutor some of my peers and some in lower grades, typically on geometry and algebra. In college I have tutored some peers in intro-level college algebra classes.

Don't be afraid to ask for help, it does not mean you're not intelligent.

Recently I got covid and was in quarantine with my roomate. We decided to watch all the starwars movies in order.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
One question that I have found helpful to ask my teachers when I do not understand a concept is if they could explain exactly what the question is asking. Hearing another way to ask the question is very helpful for me to form connections and build my conceptual understanding.
