About Donald

I'm a passionate, hardworking high school student looking to help others. I have developed a love for math and would like to share that with anyone in need of tutoring. Whether that's teaching a new concept or you helping you prepare for an upcoming test or quiz. This could include concepts such as ratios, solving for variables, graphing parent functions, and many more. I have taken all math classes up to Pre Calculus, and I currently have a 4.0 GPA. I'm looking for students between 5th-9th grade maths. While I will admit that I don't have much tutoring experience, as a student, I know what you're looking for in a tutor. I will work hard to offer you everything I know along with tricks and strategies I've picked up at a very affordable price.

I start by getting to know them better and ensuring a fun and safe learning environment where he/she can be comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I then go over basic math vocabulary or previous concepts that are necessary for understanding the one he/she needs help with. From here, it really depends on how the student learns best. For example, I like to do guided practice problems. Those help me grasp concepts fairly quickly. However, I will try my best to accommodate your learning. Whether that's explaining through words or illustrating it on a piece of paper. At my school, some teachers believe there is only "one right way" to teach a subject. While some students may quickly pick up on it, other students just fail to understand it. This isn't because the other students aren't "smart" or the subject is "too hard". It's because different people learn in different ways. As a student I see this everyday. I want to make learning easy and not stressful, so I strive to view math concepts in different ways, so I can help my students have that "A ha" moment.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before consulting a teacher, think specifically about what you need help on. If you just ask for help on huge concept such as "algebra" or "triangles", it will be hard for the teacher to narrow down what you actually need assistance with. For example, you may already know how to write convert an equation from standard form to slope-intercept form, you're just having trouble graphing it. Try to identify specifically what you are having trouble understanding. This way the teacher/tutor can immediately dive in with what you need help with. This will save money, time, and hopefully boredom.
