About Rafael
I am excited to help my students with school, I know how helpful it can be to have someone to provide a second pair of eyes to help with school work. Concepts in school can be really hard and I am a hardworking patient tutor more than willing to take as much time as needed to help students grasp concepts.
I was a tutor in high school from my sophomore year to my Senior year. I graduated 52 out of 900 students with a 3.97 GPA from the Science and Engineering Academy at John Jay High School in San Antonio. I was on the High School Debate team and was a state debate competition participant. I am a Texas A & M student focusing on getting more work experience, and I am excited and looking forward to working with you all.
It is truly a priceless feeling helping my fellow students reach that "AHA" moment when you finally understand a subject. I am a very thorough tutor and I make sure there is no confusion with the subject at hand. I will take the time needed to make sure a concept or subject is understood. I am very patient with my students and I am dedicated to ensuring my students excel. I am willing to work with students on projects, preparation for exams, tests, homework, as well as working with students that are falling behind in a class. I tailor my lessons to each student and work for comprehension.

First I typically start with an assessment of the student's comprehension of the subject, and then I customize a specific learning plan for the student and then teach for understanding. Throughout the time spent with the student, I test for understanding and reteach to iron out any wrinkles. Teaching for comprehension is very important to me.
