About Amy
I have been teaching for 24 years and have an ED.S. in Educational leadership. I have taught both General education in the elementary school setting as well as Deaf Education kindergarten through 12th grade. I am also certified to teach ESL students. I have a strong understanding of the elementary curriculum in Virginia and have a passion for helping students become confident, successful learners. I feel its important to meet students where they are and create a love of learning through relationship building.
I enjoy building relationships with students. It is fun watching that 'lightbulb" turn on in their eyes as they gain confidence in their abilities and achieve success.
I have been teaching elementary for 24 years.

I find out what they need and then work to meet that need. If they come to me with a general need not knowing what they are weak in, I may do a small informal assessment that is based on the expectations of that grade level in order to find a starting point. Once I know where to begin, I can move the student forward.
