About Jalyn

I have worked in Science Education for nearly three years at Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA. Additionally, I am an undergraduate senior at Regent University in Virginia Beach. I serve as the president of our Pre-Professional Health Honor Society, leading fellow undergraduate students to opportunities for professional development and academic support. I am currently applying for doctoral programs in Medicinal Chemistry to one day become a professor! 

As a teacher, I began working with students in an official position during high school as a religious education teacher for first-grade students. I served in this position for several years and later went on to work with high school students in faith formation.

First, I like to set up a meeting where both me, the student, and preferably the parent are able to meet and get to know each other. I like to establish a relationship and also understand some background of the student (school, learning style, etc.).

If I had to choose between listening to a lecture, doing an experiment, or watching my teacher draw a diagram of the information, which would I prefer? Which would typically help me understand the material better?

How do I study? What has worked and what hasn't? 

What are my goals as a student in this subject? Not the goals of my parents, but currently, what are the goals that I have right now in this subject?
