About LATONIA

Hello Families,

My name is LaTonia, and I am a certified Reading Specialist with a Master’s degree in Education, licensed in Virginia and Maryland. I am also a current high school teacher with 20 years of extensive experience supporting learners at every level—from elementary and middle school students to high school scholars and adult learners, including teachers whom I have trained and coached.

With over a decade of experience in reading instruction, writing development, and ESL/ELL support, I specialize in helping students strengthen foundational literacy skills, improve reading comprehension, develop clear and confident writing, and build the academic habits they need to thrive. Whether struggling with decoding, vocabulary, fluency, essay structure, or overall confidence, I meet learners exactly where they are and guide them forward with patience, expertise, and customized instruction.

All of my tutoring services are 100% virtual, making high-quality literacy support accessible, flexible, and convenient for today’s busy families.

Parents choose to work with me because I bring:

• Deep expertise in reading and writing instruction across all grade levels

• A calm, supportive, and structured teaching style that reduces anxiety and builds confidence

• Proven success helping students grow, even when they have previously struggled

• Specialized training in ESL, enabling multilingual learners to flourish in English

• Experience coaching educators, which gives me a unique understanding of curriculum, assessment, and effective intervention

If you are looking for a tutor who can elevate reading skills, strengthen writing, and help students feel genuinely capable and proud of their progress, I would be honored to support your family.

I look forward to partnering with you and helping your student succeed.

Warmly,

LaTonia, M.Ed.
