About Gina

We are a quilt shop with over 1900 bolts of modern and contemporary fabrics, notions, wool felt, embroidery floss, threads, patterns, books, pre-cuts and kits. We love beginning quilters and we play well with the most experienced quilters and sewists. We'll look for any excuse to share our passion with everyone who walks in our door. Our classroom is light, bright, and well stocked with all the tools and supplies you will need for making your own fabulous creations! Sign-up for one of our classes; stop by one of our many drop-ins; schedule a one-on-one lesson; or just come in and say HI!

You can find us on Instagram, Facebook and Pintrest #woodengatequilts #wgq

We teach both children (8+ years old) and adults.

Beginning Students: We work with beginning students one-on-one which is especially great for the absolute beginner. We'll talk with you about what your sewing goals are and help you choose a project that fits your skills and goals. Call to make a One-On-One appointment.

Experienced Students: If you are an experienced sewist (or know how to use your sewing machine independently) we are able to help you expand your sewing skills either with quilting, garment, or home dec projects. We have drop-in classes that are a great place for you to work on your choice of project at your own pace. Come every week or just come in when you need help. No pre-registration is required.

Children: Must be 8 years old or older and able to focus their attention for at least an hour. At this time we do not teach children in groups (this is a safety issue when combining children and sewing machines and hot irons.)

Beginners: We do provide machines in the shop. If you have your own machine (which is prefered) we will teach you how to use the basic functions. For embroidery machines and machine embroidery we suggest that you take classes supplied by one of the nearby sewing machine shops.

We politely ask that to attend a drop-in class you MUST be familiar with and able to operate a sewing machine independently. If you need a refresher please schedule a One-On-One lesson first to gain familiarity with your machine.

We've found that people who have sewn clothing in the past can learn to quilt quite easily. But people who are quilters and want to learn to sew clothing take a bit more time to develop additional sewing skills and techniques.

There are as many ways to do things as there are people in the world. Everyone has a slightly different technique that works. Find a teacher who can be flexible with your needs and goals.
