About Sara
With nineteen years of teaching experience, I delight in supporting students personalised GCSE and A-level tuition in English Language or English Literature. I love to build confidence and enthusiasm, offering customised teaching to nurture essay writing skills and literary analysis.
I am also a Cambridge CELTA-certified language teacher, helping international students achieve their IELTS goals and supporting professionals with Business English for career advancement. Whether preparing for university entry or developing workplace communication skills, I tailor my approach to each learner’s specific objectives.
I offer online lessons across the UK and internationally.
As a mother of two children, I understand the pressures students face during examination years. I’ve spent nearly two decades helping university students develop their analytical thinking, and I love adapting those skills for younger learners. What drives me is seeing that moment when a student suddenly ‘gets’ a difficult concept, whether it’s understanding symbolism in poetry or crafting a compelling argument in an essay. I believe every student has unique strengths, and my role is helping them discover and build on those.
Outside teaching, I’m passionate about science fiction and history, and I have published two award-winning academic books. I bring that same love of storytelling and analysis to helping students connect with language or literature in meaningful ways.

Teaching Methodology:
I use interactive Zoom sessions with screen sharing and collaborative Google Docs.
For GCSE and A-level English Language and Literature teaching, I support students across all major exam boards—AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and WJEC/Eduqas—understanding the specific approaches each board takes to assessment and the distinct requirements for success. Each lesson focuses on building specific skills through guided practice. We might analyse a poem together, work on essay structure, or develop exam techniques. I adapt my approach to each student’s individual needs, to build their skills in a supportive and encouraging way.
For learners of English as an additional language, I incorporate communicative teaching methods, focusing on real-world application and fluency development. IELTS preparation includes targeted practice for all four skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) with mock tests and feedback. Students complete practice tests independently using recommended resources, then we analyse results and focus on improvement areas during our sessions.
Lesson Length: 50 minutes per session.
