About Mike

I’m Mike — a QTS-qualified primary teacher (3–11) with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Primary Education, and I’m fully DBS checked. I’ve taught across Nursery to Year 6, with much of my experience focused on targeted intervention, after-school tutoring, and 1:1 and small-group support. I’m confident adapting lessons to suit each child, helping them build strong foundations in reading, writing, spelling, and spoken English. Alongside my primary teaching, I’ve also worked in a secondary SEND setting, which strengthened my ability to explain clearly, break learning into manageable steps, and support children’s confidence and focus. I’m autism-informed and wellbeing-aware, and I’m known for creating a calm, supportive learning environment with personalised goals and encouraging feedback. I also hold TEFL qualifications, including Teaching English to Young Learners, which supports my work with children who benefit from structured language teaching, clear modelling, and confidence-building speaking and listening activities. Relevant qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) + BA (Hons) Primary Education (3–11), First Class TEFL Level 5 (168 hours) + Teaching English to Young Learners CACHE Level 2: Understanding Autism CACHE Level 2: Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health CACHE Level 2: Supporting Teaching and Learning CACHE Level 1: Safeguarding in a Learning Environment

About the lesson

Relaxed, friendly 1-to-1 English lessons tailored to you or your child. I adapt each session to their pace, goals and learning style, so they feel comfortable and make steady progress. I’m easy to talk to, and I create a calm, no-pressure space where students can have a go, make mistakes safely, and build confidence. I’m a QTS-qualified primary teacher (ages 3–11) with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Primary Education. I’ve taught mainly in Year 2, with experience supporting children across Reception to Year 6, planning and teaching the majority of weekly lessons and using assessment to guide clear next steps. I’m especially confident supporting reading, comprehension, vocabulary, writing confidence and speaking & listening through personalised tutoring and practical feedback. I also have SEND experience (including autism-informed practice and wellbeing-aware support), which helps me adapt calmly and effectively when a child needs learning broken down, extra structure, or a confidence boost — but my focus is always on helping every child feel successful in English.

Mike has been like a breath of fresh air for us. Our son is autistic PDA, nervous system disability. Mike has taken the time to really get to know our son, and we admire the patience and moments of learning that Mike weaves into the class. Our son likes to have a sense of ownership and the way that Mike is able to navigate this without judgement is truly telling not only of a great teacher but a very kind hearted person. We are very grateful to have him on board team A!

Mike has helped with my 6 year old son for the last 9 months.
My son struggles at school with his English. Mike has been able to adapted lessons to keep my son fully engaged. Mike has made a great difference to my son’s reading and writing. Best of all my son enjoys going to his lessons, which I see as a great achievement for Mike, as my son will not sit down for more than 10 minutes of work with me. Thank you, Mike

Mike has been fantastic working with our 6yo boy - my son listens to Mike, is always happy and has made great progress. Children are so unpredictable and our son certainly has demand avoidance but with Mike he has sat for an hour many times in a row doing homework. We are very pleased
