About Uzma
Hello, my name is Uzma Arshad, and I am passionate about helping learners achieve their full potential in reading, literacy, writing, and linguistics. With more than 27 years of teaching experience across schools, community programs, and higher education, I bring both deep knowledge and practical strategies to support learners of all ages. I am currently completing a Master of Education in Inclusive Education, which has given me strong insight into how to work with diverse learners and adapt lessons to individual needs. My goal is not only to improve academic skills but also to build confidence, motivation, and a love for learning. I also have extensive experience supporting multicultural and multilingual students, particularly those preparing for the IELTS test. I understand the challenges of learning English in a new environment, and I provide practical strategies, encouragement, and tailored lessons to help students achieve the results they need for study, work, or migration. I believe every student can succeed when given the right support. That’s why I create lessons that are tailored, engaging, and supportive, whether you are a primary student building literacy skills, a secondary student improving writing, or an adult developing language confidence. Teaching is more than a career for me — it is my way of making a positive difference in people’s lives. I look forward to guiding you on your learning journey.

I use a student-centred and inclusive approach, tailoring each lesson to the learner’s needs, goals, and learning style. My techniques combine direct instruction with interactive strategies such as guided reading, writing practice, scaffolding, visual aids, and discussion. I focus on building confidence by breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps and providing constructive feedback.
A typical lesson runs for 60–90 minutes, with a balance of explanation, practice, and reflection. Lessons begin with a short review, followed by new material, and end with consolidation activities to reinforce learning.
I hold over 27 years of teaching and tutoring experience, with qualifications including a Master of Education (Inclusive Education, ongoing), Bachelor of Education, Certificate in Education Support (Monash), and TESOL/IELTS trainer certification.
My lessons are designed for a wide range of learners: children in primary years who need support in literacy and numeracy, secondary and adult learners developing academic writing or English as an Additional Language (EAL), and students with diverse or additional learning needs.
