  • 1) When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

My journey as an educator began years ago when I started working as an Educational Assistant. That experience sparked a deep interest in supporting students with diverse needs and pathways. I later returned to school to complete my graduate studies with the goal of teaching in college programs such as Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Educational Support, and Educational Assistant diploma programs.

While I continue to do frontline work, I have also taken on contract college teaching roles and tutoring in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Supporting students at any entry point, whether in a classroom or online is incredibly rewarding. I value being part of a student’s journey and witnessing them set meaningful goals and ultimately achieve them.
  • 2) What makes you passionate about your subject?

My passion is rooted in a social justice perspective rather than a single subject area. I am especially drawn to supporting students with academic writing, particularly essays. I enjoy helping students not only align their work with assignment expectations and rubrics, but also push beyond that into deeper critical analysis.

Seeing students move from simply meeting requirements to developing a strong, thoughtful voice and engaging with higher-level ideas is what truly drives my passion.
  • 3) What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a “Superprof”?

I appreciate how tutoring creates a flexible, accessible space for both students and educators. It allows for personalized support that meets students where they are.

What makes me effective as a tutor is my ability to build connection, break down complex ideas, and support students in gaining confidence in their skills. I bring both frontline experience and academic expertise, which allows me to tailor my approach to each learner’s needs.
  • 4) Do you have any role models—a teacher who inspired you? Please explain.

Yes. During my graduate studies, I worked closely with a professor who supported me through my capstone paper. Their guidance had a profound impact on how I approached writing and critical thinking.

They challenged me to push beyond surface-level responses and engage more deeply with ideas, which elevated both my academic work and my confidence as a writer. That experience continues to influence how I support my own students today.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

A quote that has got me through hard times since high school “Look as far as you can see; when you get there you will see further” Author Unknown. Keep going, dream big and remain open to possibilities. Seeking out resources, support, and collaboration is essential.
