About Isabella
About Me
I’m Isabella, a final-year BSc (Hons) student at UEA heading towards a career in youth mental health, neurodiversity, psychology, and educational accessibility.
My background brings together the academic theory of how people learn with years of practical hands-on experience coaching gymnastics, teaching dance, and running youth programmes. That combination means I understand the science behind learning styles, but more importantly, I have the real-world patience and energy needed to connect with students when they're feeling stuck, burnt out, or overwhelmed by school pressure.
Why I Teach
Standard classrooms move fast and teach to the middle, which means bright, capable students often start believing they "just aren't good at" a subject simply because it hasn't been explained in a way that makes sense to them. Having worked closely with neurodivergent learners and students catching up on delayed studies, I know that rigid teaching styles simply don't work for everyone.
I teach because I want to take the stress and dread out of learning. My focus isn't just dragging a student across the finish line of an exam; it’s about breaking down intimidating material, rebuilding their confidence, and giving them practical problem-solving tools they can actually rely on independently. Seeing a student realise they are genuinely capable is the best part of the job.

Approach to Tutoring & Teaching Methodology:
• My teaching approach is student-led, structured, and entirely adapted to how each individual learns best.
• Drawing directly on my degree background in educational psychology, child development, and pedagogy, I break down complex mark schemes, texts, and theories into clear, accessible steps.
• Having worked extensively with neurodiverse learners and students with SEN, I know rigid teaching styles don't work for everyone.
• I focus on dismantling academic anxiety, building genuine confidence, and developing critical thinking in an encouraging, low-pressure environment.
Typical Lesson Format & Length:
• Lesson Length: Standard sessions run for 60 minutes, with 90-minute sessions available for extended essay planning, complex A-Level topics, or combined GCSE revision.

• Core Focus: Targeted skill-building, breaking down syllabus theory, or deconstructing essay questions together.
