About Gilbert

I am a 22 year old about to graduate from UCR with an English degree and a 3.98 GPA. I started my college experience at RCC and took courses in mainly art and literature. Presently I am very engaged in politics and my pedagogy (perspective / way of teaching) has been heavily informed by the teachers who have inspired me from high school to now, and Paolo Freire's beautiful text, Pedagogy of the Oppressed.
I plan to tutor while I do my graduate school applications, later down the line I plan to be an English professor.

About the lesson

A typical lesson plan if you need help writing an essay:
We will discuss the text you are analyzing or topic you will be exploring, starting with your personal thoughts or feelings on the piece and continue to explore why. From there we will map out which ideas would be fruitful for you to discuss in your essay, and I will obviously be helping you, as I see it, "translate" your thoughts into Academic Written English.
If you need help understanding a piece, I will likely read it outside of our session and ask what questions you have, so we can learn to engage with the text together.
