About Benjamin
I am a Classics graduate from Durham University, achieving a first class honors
In my A levels I achieved A* in English Literature and an A in History, in my dissertation (focused on both literature and history') I achieved an high first grade (80).
I have experience teacher beginners to ancient languages, helping people who feel overwhelmed achieve their goals , and providing useful and targeted help in researching and writing essays.

I don't have a specific student in mind.
I learn your goals and structure my approach around you and what works for you.
I am very analytical, and am good at creating work that doesn't waste either your time or mine.
Typical Length of the Lesson:
45 minutes to an hour is usual, however it may be that you want me for something that doesn't require that length of time (goal setting, homework feedback etc).
Experience:
I have tutored privately before, students from A level to my peers at university.
I founded and ran a society for learning latin while at university. Similarly, I ran a group which taught latin to theology post-graduates.
My Lessons are for:
English Literature - I can teach you up to undergraduate level
History - I can teach you up to undergraduate level
Latin - I can teach up to A level standard
Greek- I can teach up to GCSE standard
Old English - I can teach you to an undergraduate level
Essay writing - I can help you hone your writing style and engage with wider research

Perfect! I just want to share some feedback about Ben's classes. One thing I really love about him is how well he communicates with me before lessons. He puts together such a detailed lesson plan, and I find it super helpful. My daughter is on the autism spectrum, but I've noticed how much she’s learning and how well she responds to Ben's approach. I'm really impressed with the quality of teaching and definitely want to keep going with these classes. Thank you for all your hard work, Ben!

Ben is a great tutor, he’s patient and professional but also very funny. (He taught me magic spells in Latin). He makes the sessions really interesting, you can tell he really loves to help others learn and is passionate about languages.
When I was struggling to recapture my high school Latin and break into independent reading, Benjamin gently but efficiently guided my studies. Now I thumb through Plautus for a quick laugh while I'm waiting for the barista.
