About Thomas
Hi, I’m Tom
I’m a friendly, laid-back Classics graduate in my mid-twenties, who would be delighted to help you with your Latin studies. I have a first-class degree in MA Classics from the University of Edinburgh. I am an avid reader and traveller (most recently visited Uzbekistan), and a big fan of history, languages, cars and football.
I want to pass on the wonder and value of a Latin education and I believe one-to-one tutoring offers a fantastic opportunity to tailor and contextualise this education for individual students to not only get you through exams, but maximise the lifetime value you derive from it.
I have a rounded experience of the UK school system, having studied Latin at a state comprehensive (GCSE A*), state grammar (A-level A*), Eton College summer school, and the Uni of Edinburgh, and I'm happy to discuss my experiences with those considering the next stage.

Lessons in person or online for those seeking help with Latin language and literature for entrance exams, GCSEs and A-levels. Durations flexible from 30-60 mins depending on requirements.
I use a combination of digital and traditional resources to provide a dynamic and engaging learning environment tailored to the confidence and learning style of each pupil. My teaching draws on the techniques of the various excellent teachers I have had over the years, as well as my own study and revision techniques.
My goal is for my students to leave lessons self-assured in their ability to approach and learn complex ideas, and for them to develop a deeper appreciation and enthusiasm for the Latin language and the ancient world.
