About Joseph

I am a recent First-class graduate looking to help out a few more young people whilst I undergo my teacher training. At GCSE and A-Level, I achieved A/A* (equivalent to high-grade 9s) in all my subjects. My degree was in English and Creative Writing. Over the past few years, I have held lead and organize numerous writing workshops for children (aged 8-18) with a company called Writing West Midlands. Through this company, I have helped numerous young people with developing their writing style, and any questions they may have regarding GCSE and A-Level English in particular. From time-to-time, I have also assisted in even university applications also. Whether it be working one-to-one, or on summer schools with classes of up to 30, I feel confident that I can help you, or your child, achieve the highest possible results. As a trainee teacher, I also have a lot of classroom and exam board experience, knowing exactly what types of targets children of certain ages and abilities should be aiming to ascertain.

About the lesson

My teaching method is loose. I cannot say for certain that my approach will be the same with every child, as each child will require a different skill set in regards to approaches to learning. This is a belief I have strongly developed over the course of my PGCE. Throughout my tutoring, I will develop an understanding of the child's needs, and correct my approach to lessons from then on. The first of my lessons is usually just a formal, simple plan or exercise to get to understand where the child is at with their subject and to identify the areas we believe should be focused on. My aim is to show children that their subject doesn't have to feel boring or tiresome. I want to inject it with life and show them different ways of approaching learning that will make them want to engage with it, and enjoy it when they do so.

My rates will stay the same across GCSE, A-Level and for those after help applying for university. However, they may be subject to change depending on the distance needed to travel to the student (if me traveling is the best option), or if the tutoring involves any undergraduate work.
