About Raphael

I am a former student at an international seminary, where I studied through French for five years. I have taught piano lessons privately, and given classes in catechism and biblical studies in a primary and secondary school. My experience in teaching has given me a love of passing on knowledge to others and of helping them excel. I seek to accompany my students so that they achieve their goals and master the subject they apply themselves to, tackling difficulties and coming up with effective solutions to progress.

About the lesson

I take a holistic, immersive approach to language lessons, beginning by presenting grammar, then practising the rules studied, followed by reading material in the target language and finishing with a discussion of the day's reading to develop conversational skills in the language. As a student at an international seminary run through French, I have five years experience conversing, studying and sitting exams through French. I studied Latin for three years, and throughout third-level education I frequently consulted works in Latin - I have a solid knowledge of the grammar and aim to give the same solid linguistic structure to my students.
I give one-hour lessons to students in primary school, junior cycle and senior cycle, and also to adults or casual learners looking to further their language skills, particularly in conversational or work environments. My materials and approach do not necessarily follow any school curriculum; my focus is a solid foundation in the language and ability to put it to use in a practical setting, and understand text and conversation in the target language.
