About John
Prior to returning to education, I worked at the post-high school level, helping young adults identify and achieve their career goals through education and training. I have worked with those who didn't complete high school to attain GED, Big 12 college students, and professional young adults to navigate how to achieve their goals. This all led me back to education and to become a social studies and mathematics teacher at the middle school and high school level with the knowledge of what is needed to be successful. I'm passionate about introducing concepts to students and showing how they are useful and impactful in real life.

About the lesson

I work with each student to fill in the gaps and explore what is possible. In mathematics, I start with each student were they are and progress at their pace. In social studies, I start with making connections with what the student already knows and then discuss the cause-and-effect to contemporary life.
