About Sariah
I am a fourth year Education student currently attending the University of Alberta. I volunteer with the school district and work in classrooms in my spare time, to provide teachers an extra hand in the workplace. I have spent over four months volunteering across South America teaching children English. I love working with kids and am hoping to gain as much experience as possible before I begin my Master's in Education in 2026. I am outgoing and love getting to know new people! I have worked with a variety of kids ages 4-17 with varying levels of cognitive abilities! I have volunteered in Canada as well as several countries in South America working to develop English literacy among kids.
It is important to me to tailor my teaching to the specific needs of the learner. I like to start with some basic questions to connect with the child and get an assessment of what skill level they are at. I go over what the learning goals are for both child and parent. A typical lesson would be review of the previous lesson and where we are still struggling. Then tackling the assignments given to the student if they are in school. I am happy to bring worksheets of my own for extra practice if I or the student feels it would be beneficial for them.
