About Jordan

I have just recently graduated from Lancaster University after studying English Literature. I have an earnest passion for wanting to help impart knowledge on to the next generation and help inspire people to love English Literature! Throughout my own time in education, it was quite apparent that the manner in which English is taught is not wholly accessible to everybody, and it is on this basis where I would like to distinguish myself as different. Naturally it is essential to stick by guidelines and syllabuses, but that does not mean that every example need be 'boring.' For instance, prior to my time at Lancaster I never would have envisioned that English Literature could encompass narratives such as the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy in an academic sense. It is my aim to employ the tools I have learnt throughout my own time in education to help show others that English Literature is so much more than how it is presented in schools. During my own GCSE's and A levels, the key to success stemmed directly from the assessment objectives outlined by the schools. How I would like to approach teaching will be based from, the texts the students are covering, ensuring the student is able to analyse the text in accordance to these assessment objectives and finally how they can relate these to wider discourses and other contemporary examples.
