About Kyle

Hello! I’m Kyle Walk-Faust, a dedicated educator with over 13 years of experience as a Social Studies Department Chair and classroom teacher at Chute Middle School in Evanston, IL. Holding a B.A. in Secondary Education (History) and an M.S. in Instructional Design & Technology from Concordia University Chicago, I bring proven expertise in creating engaging, data-driven learning experiences that build student success.

My background includes leading curriculum development aligned with national standards, facilitating professional workshops, and coordinating assessments to track real progress—skills I now use to personalize tutoring in English reading, writing, and humanities for grades 6–12. Whether it’s decoding complex texts, crafting compelling essays, or developing critical thinking, I make learning approachable and rewarding.

Students and parents can count on my professionalism, patience, and passion for equity in education. I’ve empowered countless middle and high schoolers to gain confidence and excel, and I’m excited to do the same for you!

About the lesson

With 13 years of classroom experience, I’ve learned that every student is capable of growth when they feel supported and understood. My lessons center around building confidence, curiosity, and clear communication in reading and writing. I create a comfortable atmosphere where students feel safe to take risks and find their voice as thinkers and writers.

Each session begins with a quick check-in to set goals for the day. We might explore a short passage to practice reading comprehension, analyze author’s techniques, strengthen vocabulary, or workshop a piece of writing together. I use a mix of discussion, modeling, and guided practice so students can immediately apply what they learn.

What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students of all levels—from middle school through high school—and make challenging concepts feel approachable and even enjoyable. I focus on individualized feedback and strategies that help students succeed in class today while growing lasting skills for the future.

Whether you’re preparing for essays, improving reading fluency, or building confidence in expressing ideas, I’ll tailor each lesson to your goals and learning style.
