About Me Hi there! I’m Abagail Stricklen, a passionate psychology tutor dedicated to helping students understand the fascinating science of the mind and behavior. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from West Virginia State University, am currently in my second year of Liberty University's Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program, and I’ve worked with students across different levels—from high school to college—helping them master psychological theories, research methods, and applied concepts with confidence. My Approach as a Psychology Tutor Teaching Method & Techniques My approach to tutoring psychology is centered on understanding, application, and connection. I believe students learn best when complex theories are broken down into real-world examples and engaging discussions. I use a mix of teaching techniques such as: Active learning: encouraging students to analyze case studies, design experiments, or apply theories to current events. Socratic questioning: guiding students to think critically and develop their own insights. Visual aids & summaries: using diagrams, mind maps, and charts to make abstract concepts tangible. Practice-based learning: integrating sample exam questions, research article analysis, and APA-style writing exercises. A Typical Lesson Plan Each session is structured to balance understanding and application: Warm-up (5–10 min): Quick review of previous material or a short discussion question. Core Lesson (25–30 min): Explanation of key concepts, illustrated with examples or short videos. Interactive Practice (15–20 min): Activities like applying theories to scenarios, identifying variables, or interpreting study results. Wrap-Up & Reflection (5–10 min): Summary of key takeaways and a mini quiz or discussion prompt to reinforce learning. Follow-Up: Optional study guides, flashcards, or reading recommendations for deeper understanding.
