About Eloise
I am an enthusiastic and dedicated educator with a BSc (Hons) in English Language and Literature and a passion for inspiring students. I am currently working as a trainee secondary school English teacher, and I love supporting students as they build confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and grow a genuine appreciation for language and literature. I would describe myself as outgoing, adaptable, and deeply compassionate. I believe every student has the potential to succeed with the right guidance and encouragement. My experience working with a diverse range of learners, including those with special educational needs, has shaped the way I teach. Volunteering with SEN students for over three years has helped me develop the patience, empathy, and adaptability needed to create a supportive and inclusive classroom. Outside of the classroom, I have experience tutoring GCSE English Language and Literature, helping students improve their grades, and preparing primary students for 11+ exams with confidence. I have also volunteered with Action Tutoring and NCS summer camps, engaging with young people in both educational and personal development settings. For me, teaching is about more than exams. It is about fostering curiosity, self-expression, and a love of learning. I aim to create lessons where students feel heard, valued, and capable. I am excited to continue making a positive difference in education and helping students reach their full potential.

My tutoring approach is centred on engagement, adaptability, and critical thinking. I believe learning should be an interactive process, tailored to each student’s needs. Whether working on literature, language, or essay writing, I encourage curiosity, discussion, and independent thought. My goal is not just to help students understand the material but to empower them to analyse, interpret, and apply their knowledge effectively. My teaching methodology is highly adaptable—I work to the specific needs of each student, ensuring they receive personalised support. My techniques are grounded in the AQA English Literature and Language exam board, and I am well-equipped to mark questions in line with GCSE guidance. Lesson Structure A typical lesson can vary between 1-2 hours, though I am flexible and can adjust the duration based on student needs. Sessions typically begin with a review of previous material and questions, followed by an in-depth exploration of the core topic—whether that’s textual analysis, exam technique, or structured argumentation. Lessons conclude with a recap and guidance on independent study. If based in Newcastle, I am happy to meet locally; otherwise, I conduct sessions online via Teams or Zoom. My Qualifications and Experience I have extensive tutoring experience, having volunteered for a year with Action Tutoring, offering GCSE English Language support. Additionally, I have privately tutored students in both GCSE English Language and Literature, with their grades improving significantly. Academically, I achieved A*s in both English Language and Literature at GCSE and A-Level. I am now a third-year English Language and Literature student at Newcastle University and am set to teach secondary English from September. My experience working with 15-16-year-olds includes leading summer camps with NCS, and I also hold a DBS certification. Who My Lessons Are For I primarily tutor secondary school students, particularly those preparing for GCSEs in English Language and Literature. I also have experience tutoring primary-aged children, including preparation for 11+ exams—one of my students successfully passed the exam under my guidance. Above all, I aim to make learning engaging, student-focused, and results-driven. If you're looking for tailored support in English, whether for exam preparation or general improvement, feel free to reach out for more information!

I want to thank Eloise so much, I definitely feel throughout our sessions I grew much more confident. Having left school and being home schooled, I was worried for my English results needing a 5 to get onto my college course . I passed my English GCSE and I got a 7, I am so beyond happy and I really couldn’t have done it without all Eloise’s help and guidance so I just wanted to say thank you so so much!! xx
I hired Eloise to tutor my daughter for her upcoming Edexcel English Language and Literature GCSE.
I just wanted to thank Eloise for all the help and support you've given my daughter. She's so much more confident now, and it's lovely seeing her smile and feeling confident about her exams.I’ve known Eloise for years, and I can honestly say she’s one of the most supportive and caring people I’ve ever met. She genuinely cares about supporting others and is incredibly results driven!
Eloise is one of the most compassionate and understanding people I know. She always goes out of her way to support the people around her, whether it’s offering advice, making you laugh when you need it, or just being there to listen. Her kindness is so genuine, and you always feel valued in her presence. She’s the kind of person who makes any space feel warm and welcoming. She would make the perfect tutor for those who need their confidence increasing or skills honing
