About Calum
Hello thanks for coming to my profile! My name is Calum and I am an English teacher from Scotland in the United Kingdom. Although I am from Scotland my students tell me that my accent is very neutral and easy to understand.
I am a level 5 (diploma) certified English tutor. I have worked in three international summer schools, two in the UK and one in the US, working with hundreds of students from over 70 nationalities! I currently live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I have been working as an English teacher and at immersive English camps.
Before moving to Argentina I managed a branding company and I have a background in Marketing/Sales. I also run my own freelance marketing company therefore Business English is something I really enjoy teaching.
I love meeting new people, travelling and learning about cultures from all over the world. My other passion is sports and the great outdoors. I enjoy rugby, football, rock climbing and hiking to name just a few!

I love to make my classes engaging, informative and most of all fun! I like the classes to be relaxed and conversational but also structured to keep the lessons focused on your specific goals. Getting to know my students is super important to me so that I can make the classes interesting and personalised to them!
I am able to help you with all your English skills such as conversation, reading, writing and grammar. The students I most enjoy working with are intermediate to advanced students with the focus being on improving conversation and pronunciation. I also specialise in Business English, helping students with CV's, mock job applications and business specific terminology.
I have a level 5 diploma in teaching English as a foreign language and have a background in marketing which is very helpful when teaching business English.
My lessons are typically 1 hour in length but I am happy to be flexible. I always offer a 30 minute FREE trial lesson for new students to see if we are the right fit for each other!
My trial lesson structure below will give you a good idea of what to expect. I know that we are going to have a great time learning English and I really hope to meeting you in class soon!
1) Spend some time getting to know each other, I love finding out all about your hobbies and interests. This allows me to make sure any future lessons are personalised to you!
2)Assess your current English Level.
3) How do you currently practice English? For example, formal lessons, listening to music, watching TV/films, using language apps.
4) What is your motivation for learning English? Examples include, your job, you want to travel, you would like to better understand native speakers
5) We will then set some English targets and goals together based on the information we have.
6) Next we will do some fun English exercises and games just to give you an idea of what you can expect for future lessons.
7) Lastly we will establish any next steps and if you would like to continue with the lessons. I will give my recommendations for how many lessons a week ect but of course the decision is up to you!
