Future Teacher Helping Future Leaders! Lots of experience, can travel, flexible hours!

About the lesson

Hi friends! My name is Jason Summerssmith and I am a senior at the College of Charleston. In December, I officially graduate and become a Middle School ELA/Social Studies teacher! I love helping the future leaders of the world learn different academia, life skills, and overall everyday knowledge! I've worked with kids and in schools for several years, and I currently tutor a few college-level students. I live in West Ashley and can travel to any location! My initiative and overall goal is to open the minds of young leaders through communication, teamwork, integrity, patience, and kindness!

About Jason

I've worked with students for several years now, as I began the Teacher Cadet program my senior year of high school. From there, I knew my passion. After high school, I worked as an activities ambassador at a local resort and entered the teacher education program at CofC in 2014. After I entered the program, I worked at a local summer camp in Mount Pleasant as a camp counselor. After that temporary position, I mentored students in the REACH Program (students with intellectual disabilities), where I was a live-in RA, helping them with their studies and home life routines. I was an after school counselor for Kaleidoscope for a year and a half following the REACH position. Last year, I completed my final round of semester-long classroom shadowing, and in August I begin my clinical internship at a local Middle School. Additionally, I have been tutoring a few college-level students virtually throughout the COVID-19 pandemic!
