About Cara
I’m a 19 year old gap year student who wants to help other students reach their full potential as they navigate the tumultuous and often difficult world of education. I advocate for a personalised, patient and open-minded approach to each student, and will do everything I can to make their experience of additional learning as enriching and enjoyable as possible.
My gap year was what you might call a last minute change of plans, and I see this time as an opportunity to help other students that experienced the same worries, doubts, and difficulties that I did during my A-Levels.
I attended a gifted school in the US before moving back to the UK, so my understanding of ambitious and perfectionistic types is thorough (as well as being one myself). My tutoring style as a result of this trait and understanding is tenacious, patient and impassioned. I establish with the student the known problem areas within the topic, i.e parts of the course or subject that the student lacks a specific understanding or confidence on, and revisit these areas throughout the course of the tuition. Once improvement is seen in one area, the list is revised and achievements are noted. I believe it is of upmost importance to not only guide the student, but also encourage and edify them.
The opportunity to learn is a gift, and I hope to both give and receive that gift during my experience as a tutor.
